Challenge
A spray foam insulation contractor in Dubai handles cold storage and refrigerated warehouse projects across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. Standard SPF systems sold into the Gulf often failed two real-world tests: storage stability when drum temperatures exceeded 40°C in warehouses, and on-site reactivity when ambient spray conditions reached 38-42°C.
Off-the-shelf SPF systems did not behave in Dubai summer the way they did in their original European laboratory tests.
Approach
We developed a Gulf-specific SPF formulation with adjusted catalyst delay for high ambient temperature, a reformulated surfactant package for long warehouse storage, and B1 fire-retardant compliance matched to UAE Civil Defense requirements. Three variants from 32 to 45 kg/m³ closed-cell density were supplied for field validation before final specification.
Outcome
- Custom Gulf-climate SPF formulation finalized after 2 field-test iterations
- Storage stability validated up to 6 weeks at 35-40°C ambient warehouse temperature
- On-site spray reactivity stays consistent at 38-42°C ambient conditions
- B1 fire-retardant compliance documented per UAE Civil Defense requirements
