Cold Storage Panel Manufacturer Stabilizes Production Through Monsoon Season

A regional sandwich panel manufacturer in East Java, referred to here as PT S— P—, operates a continuous lamination line producing PIR/PUR cold storage panels for the Southeast Asian refrigeration market. Every monsoon season, when ambient humidity broke past 85%, their existing rigid PU system became erratic: cream time drifted by 2-3 seconds across shifts, gel time stretched from 45 to 60+ seconds, and surface defects climbed above 4%. Quality rejects ate into already-thin margins.

Their previous supplier offered only one solution: adjust the line speed. That was not an answer.

The customer shipped a 2-liter sample of their existing system to our Jinshan laboratory, along with twelve months of cream time data and ambient humidity logs. Within five days, our R&D chemists reformulated the catalyst balance and adjusted the surfactant package while keeping the customer's existing polymeric MDI, solving the moisture sensitivity on the polyol side.

The reformulated system was validated on the customer's continuous line during peak February humidity.
